History

Clinton County’s rich history is on display at the area’s largest museum, the Heisey House Museum, home to the Clinton County Historical Society and the Poorman Gallery.

    Visit the Barton Street School, which dates back to 1874, and houses memorabilia from local fire companies and the military. The Farrandsville Iron Furnace, located north of Lock Haven, was the first and largest coke-fired hot-blast iron furnace in North America. Be a part of an archaeological dig at the Red Hill Field Station Fossil Site & Museum.

     Aviation enthusiasts enjoy visiting the Piper Aviation Museum, home of the Piper Cub airplane, which happens to be Pennsylvania’s state aircraft. Each June, the skies above Lock Haven teem with all types of planes for the “Sentimental Journey to Cub Haven Fly-In”.
