The Wilds

Situated in north-central Pennsylvania’s beautiful PA Wilds region, our topography is diverse. Northern Clinton County is mountainous, heavily forested and sparsely populated. State parks and state forests welcome the public to enjoy nature at its best. Over 60% of Clinton County is state land, available for public use.           

Hunting and fishing are two of the largest pastimes in the area. Sportsmen and women flock to the streams for trout and the woods for deer, bear, turkey and small game. The range of Pennsylvania’s wild elk herd is expanding in Clinton County. Sightings of elk are common in the Kettle Creek Valley, with a wilder, more secluded herd in the remote southwestern parts of the county.

Hyner View State Park overlooks the Susquehanna River Valley. This park showcases one of the most spectacular views in the state and is a popular launch point for adventurous hang gliders and paragliders. Two scenic by-ways make for great Sunday drives or trips to see the mountain laurel bloom in late May into June and the changing leaves in the fall of the year.
